Parallel to AgriVision we will organise a hackathon. The objective is to showcase the potential of data and technology driven innovation in livestock farming, more specifically in the ‘pig production system’.

A hackathon is a pressure cooker event where programmers, data scientists, graphic designers, interface designers, and other experts work together intensively to develop data and software driven innovations.

The AgriVision hackathon team is challenged to demonstrate that by sharing and integrating data from different stakeholders in the value chain, added value can be created. Nutreco, Agrisyst, ForFarmers, Hendrix Genetics, Nedap and Vion are acting as ‘data donors’.

The following subchallenges have been identified:

  1. Growth prediction of fattening pigs
  2. Prognosis of the number of piglets
  3. Intervention free production
  4. Short supply chains

Four interdisciplinary teams will tackle these four challenges in 32 hours. The results will be presented at the end of AgriVision in a plenary session.

The hackathon will be organised by FarmHack.NL, ‘a collaboration platform for tech savvy and creative people to find new ways for tackling wicked problems in agriculture’.
