Travelling by plane
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the largest international airport in the Netherlands and a 30 minute drive from the conference venue.

Noordwijk has a rich history, stretching back to around 2000 BC, the date of the first traces of inhabitancy. In 847 a Scottish Benedictine monk, named Jeroen, came to Noordwijk. He built a chapel and carried out missionary work. In 856 Jeroen of Noordwijk was tortured and beheaded by the Normans. After his death a Roman chapel was built in his honour, which quickly became a place of pilgrimage. 

Amsterdam: A 15 minute drive from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is world famous for its historical canals, typical narrow houses, world-class museums and open atmosphere. So visit the Van Gogh - or Rijksmuseum, go to the Heineken Experience or simply enjoy the architecture during a boat ride on the canals. 

De Keukenhof: An 18 minute drive from Huis ter Duin, Keukenhof is a park with over 7 million and more than 800 varieties of tulips. Besides the 32 hectares of flowers you can enjoy the spectacular flower shows, inspirational and relaxing gardens and entertaining events. No wonder Keukenhof is a tourist favourite.

Leiden: A 20 minute drive from Huis ter Duin, Leiden is the oldest university city in the Netherlands (since 1575) and has an astonishing historic city centre including canals.

Den Haag: A 35 minute drive from Huis ter Duin, Den Haag is the seat of the Dutch government and boasts the oldest house of parliament in the world that is still in use. Den Haag is also a good place for shopping. 

Delft: A 40 minute drive from Huis ter Duin, Delft is not only a beautiful historic university city and the birthplace of the painter Vermeer, but also the home of Delft Blue (or Delftware). This typical blue and white pottery has been made in Delft since the 16th century.

Haarlem: A 35 minute drive from Huis ter Duin, Haarlem is a charming historic city that has some fine restaurants and a beer brewery in a church (Jopenbier).
