Katharina Unger

Industrial Designer, CEO & Co-Founder of LIVIN farms

Katharina UngerKatharina is the CEO and Founder of LIVIN farms – an innovative hardware company disrupting our perception and consumption of food. LIVIN farms has created the world’s first desktop hive for edible insects, and Katharina and her team are looking to change our behaviours (and dare we say the entire food industry), in the way how we consume and treat our natural resources.
Born and raised Austria, she has worked in Hong Kong, London, Vienna, the US and Africa. Katharina is an industrial designer by profession, and her passion is to create objects and artifacts, rethink systems and design strategies, and believes that a designer needs to observe the world on a systems level, in order to create impact through physical or strategic inventions.
She studied in the studios of Hartmut Esslinger (frog design) and Fiona Raby (Dunne/Raby, RCA London), graduated with a Mag.des.ind. from University of Applied Arts Vienna, and is a Fulbright Alumna in Design for Social Impact.
